The main dances performed by men in Haryana include Gugga dance, Dhamal dance, Daph, dance, Damru dance, Chaupaiyan dance, Saang. etc.

Gugga Dance

  • It is a ritualistic dance performed taken out in the memory of Gugga pir on Gugga Navami.
  • It is performed by both Hindus and Muslims
  • The worshipers and followers of Gugga wear yellow coloured dresses and the dance is performed in a procession.
  • A week  before Gugga Navami, the devotees take out the procession carrying a long and strong bamboo stick known as Gugga Ki Charri.
  • The Charri is decorated with garlands, flowers, peacock feathers, coloured clothes, etc.
  • The devotees sing songs in praises of Gugga Pir and dance on the beats of Sarangi and Deru.
  • Gugga dance is very Simple but has spiritual rhythm. The feet of dancers move according to the rhythm on their songs.
